Acceptable Use Policy
Guidelines for building responsibly on Larkup
Larkup provides powerful AI infrastructure, enabling developers to build sophisticated search and generation capabilities. With this power comes a responsibility to use the API ethically and securely.
This Acceptable Use Policy outlines what is and isn't allowed when building applications on the Larkup platform. Violating these guidelines may result in API rate limiting, key revocation, or account suspension.
1. Prohibited Use Cases
You may not use Larkup to build applications that engage in, promote, or facilitate any of the following:
- Illegal Activity: Any violation of applicable local, national, or international law.
- Hate Speech & Harassment: Generating content that promotes violence, discrimination, or abuse against individuals or groups.
- Malware & Phishing: Creating systems designed to compromise security, distribute malicious code, or socially engineer users.
- Deception: Generating disinformation, deepfakes, or automated systems designed to deceive users into believing they are interacting with a human when they are not.
- High-Risk Decision Making: Using AI generation to make automated decisions in critical sectors such as law enforcement, credit scoring, employment screening, or medical diagnosis without human oversight.
2. Data Ingestion Boundaries
When utilizing Larkup's data ingestion pipelines and web crawlers, you must respect the rights of content owners.
- Do not scrape or ingest data from websites that explicitly forbid it via `robots.txt` or Terms of Service.
- Do not ingest highly sensitive personal information (PII, PHI) without proper enterprise agreements, encryption, and compliance measures in place.
- Do not use our infrastructure to conduct distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks or aggressive scraping that degrades the performance of third-party services.
3. API Abuse & Rate Limiting
We strive to maintain high availability for all users. You agree not to:
- Intentionally attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls.
- Use multiple automated accounts to circumvent usage tiers.
- Execute load testing or penetration testing against our production APIs without prior written authorization from our security team.
4. End-User Transparency
If you are building user-facing chatbots or generation tools powered by Larkup, you should make it clear to your users that they are interacting with an AI system. Furthermore, you should provide mechanisms for users to verify the citations and sources that the AI uses to generate its answers.
5. Reporting Abuse
If you suspect an application built on Larkup is violating this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it to us immediately at: abuse@larkup.com
We investigate all reports and will take appropriate action, up to and including terminating the offending customer's access to the platform.
